Version control

There are two ways to manage profiles: "inheritance" and "version control".
Here, we will explain the concept of profile version control.

For information on "inheritance", please refer to the following link. : "Inheritance"

Overview

You can update a profile that you have already created later.
By using the following methods according to the purpose when updating, you can manage the version according to your company's process.

  • Overwrite the previous version without leaving the version before the change.
  • Create a new version of the profile while leaving the previous version.
You can also manage to respond to updates to company processes.

You can also continue to use the old version of the profile before it was updated.

Revise the profile

The profile reflects the rules and processes defined for the company.
If the company's process is updated, you can link the process and profile version to manage them.

There are the following ways to change the profile.

  1. Create a different version while leaving the previous version.
  2. Update the current version. For details, see the following link. : "Change basic information of the profile"

For an overview, please refer to the video below (from 2:00).

From here, we will explain step 1.

  1. Click the "Revise" button on the profile details screen.

The "Revise" button cannot be clicked in the following situations.

    • If you are editing your profile: Click the "Save" or "Cancel" button.
    • If the version displayed is not the latest: Display the latest version.
  2. Enter the revised version and click the "OK" button.

    • You can enter any string for the revised version.
    • However, version names that overlap with past versions cannot be pointed out.
  3. Change the profile publication status to "Public" on the profile editing screen.

After completing the above process, you can update the inherited profile.

Using version control and inheritance together

By combining profile inheritance and version control, you can deploy profile changes to related projects
in a lump.

Since you can also refer to past versions, you can expand the scope of management by switching the profile you are using
depending on the circumstances of the project or each department.
