Project progress management
Overview
This page introduces how to manage project progress on TimeTracker NX. Manage the progress of the project set in "Create a project plan".
The flow of this page is as follows.
- Report the progress of a task
- Check the progress on the Gantt chart
- Manage the progress of a task using statuses
- Manage the progress of a task using check items
1. Report the progress of a task
The basis of progress management is to report the progress of a scheduled task. You can report the progress rate of a task by double-clicking the "Progress rate" column and entering a number. The progress rate of the higher-level task is defined based on the progress rate set for each task, and is accumulated to the progress rate of the entire project.
You can also report the progress of a task from the timesheet screen. You can report the progress of work while entering man-hours, so there is no need to switch to the project screen.
2. Check the progress on the Gantt chart
The progress rate entered for a task can be displayed not only numerically but also on the Gantt chart, allowing you to check the progress against the plan.
You can also change the progress rate by dragging and dropping the progress line displayed on the Gantt chart and changing its length. You can update the progress with just the mouse, reducing the effort of project management.
3. Use status to manage task progress
One way to manage progress is to use a string that expresses the situation (status). Even if you cannot visualize the specific situation with the numerical progress rate, you can define the status of the task with words such as "not started" or "completed" and check the progress with a unified standard. The status is linked to the progress rate, so you can easily manage the progress by simply selecting the status.
You can set the status by double-clicking the "Status" column and selecting the item that matches the situation from the list that appears.
4. Use check items to manage task progress
You can also link the progress of a task to check items that manage the work within the task like a ToDo list. If you list all the work to be done in the task, you can update the progress rate by simply checking the completion of each work. Tasks can be managed only by facts without human subjectivity, so the progress rate can be checked objectively.
